What to expect when you book with us
Let’s book your session…
Congratulations! You are ready to book your photo session with us and we are so excited to document your life moments. Upon booking, we send an invoice for a deposit that is 20% of your session cost as a retainer to hold your date. This is non-refundable and promises your place on our calendar. If inclement weather, we always work around that to give you the best possible outcome for your session. The remaining balance is due by your session date and we send out an invoice for payment via email. Now it is time to start planning the details!
outfit and location selection is key…
We are here to help you brainstorm outfit options and talk about the location(s) available. We have a huge property and love to shoot there year round, but we also have some nearby places we frequent! With our mini-sessions schedule, we do also travel to other cities and locations. This part of the planning process also can go hand-in-hand while booking your session to be sure we have the vision you are looking for!
Outfit selection rule of thumb: It is best to mix and match patterns with solids. Find two to three colors and incorporate them into your scheme. Utilizing different tones of a color is also great (different shades of blue, green, etc.) - layers are also great. Contact us for assistance! We want to help you plan.
Once you arrive to your session… some helpful tips
It is time for your session, you have arrived and are so excited to get started! Here are few things we will do to prep right before your session starts.
Newborn: When booking your newborn session, we work to set a time that is convenient for your baby’s feeding/sleep schedule. We will want to see how baby is doing upon arrival, and see if he or she needs a feeding before we get started. Be sure to bring extra formula or be prepared to take a feeding break. We will discuss color scheme and types of sets we will do during the session at this time.
Portraits with Children: Once you arrive, we will want to unwind a little from the car ride while I get to know your kiddos. Outdoors, this will mean me maybe following them around as they explore. It is handy to have some healthy snacks or treats to give some fuel to sustain through the session since we will be operating on high-energy to get some fun candid photos.
Engagement, Senior or Couple Photos: (Sessions that may have an outfit change) I will want to check out your wardrobe you’ve brought and coordinate how to break up the session for each outfit. *If you like, you can always send this ahead of time so we can brainstorm our outfits and location.
Any pets?: I LOVE PETS. They are always welcome. Just be sure to give me a heads up. Helpful tips, bring a squeak toy, treats and a leash!
After your session ends - our new process for 2020…
So, we have a great time capturing some amazing memories at the location we have carefully chosen, with the outfits that were strategically planned, now what? What is the next step? After your session (or wedding), all of your images are taken back to the studio to be backed up immediately! Shortly after your session, you will see a preview on social media. A deadline is set at the time of your appointment for delivery, so be sure to ask for this date so you know when your photos will be coming to you! Our turnaround will vary between the busy and slow times of the year. (We have peak seasons in the Spring and Fall). Gallery links are either sent via email or through the platform we are communicating, and files can easily be downloaded to your computer! All of your gallery images come to you with a print release.
We have a variety of high quality, but affordable, print keepsake products in the studio as well. Be sure and ask us for a pricing guide on what we offer. We have anything from Velvet Hardback Heirloom Albums to Metal Prints!
